Forgotten

Wow, I have seriously completely forgotten that I have a blog and used to update it every day. I have a reason and I blame the computer game Guild Wars 2!
This week has been eventful, but I just didn’t remember to put it here, so I will now when I have a little time to kill. First of all I got my digital TV box on Monday, so now I have way over 100 TV channels. I don’t watch TV though…
I have also been working out quite a bit this week. My muscles are so sore right now and it will be very interesting walking in high heels tonight. The fancy dinnerparty with VIRUS is tonight. I have makeup on and my hair is full of cork screws. Wine, good food and good company, I think it will be a nice evening!
Me and my thesis partner have had a huge breakthrough this week with our thesis. We found a form online, and that form is pretty much the only thing we are gonna do. Of course customize it for Veidekke so we’ve also had a meeting with them and talked about what to add and remove. They also told us at that meeting that they think that we should skip the data and the whole LCA thing completely which will make the project so much easier!
I have been shopping which wasn’t too good. I bought a pair of chinos which is perfect in this warm spring weather. It’s been amazing these past two days, no jacket needed, the trees are getting green and flowers are everywhere. I love this season!
And lastly, but not least, I went to the liquorice and chocolate fair. So many samples I didn’t need dinner last night! I bought Chai Latte as a powder so I easily can drink it at home. I don’t have to spend a fortune at Espresso House (which I don’t do because I am kinda broke).
Last night after the fair I spent the evening with Chad and some of his friends. It was a very nice evening. I tried taking it easy since I have a big party tonight, but I didn’t get home until like 2:30am… Not so drunk though, and I could sleep in until 11 today.

I’m sorry for not updating, I am alive, just busy doing other things ^^

Cousins in Nynäshamn

Now I’ve met all my relatives, all one week. I had a very nice weekend in Sala/Nynäshamn with my grandparents and cousins.

I took the train up and down, four hours each way wasn’t too bad. I had a lot of time to read.

On Friday evening I had dinner and dessert with my grandparents. We stayed up pretty late and talked about everything and nothing.

Early on Saturday morning we drove to Nynäshamn where my uncle lives. Ella was very happy to see me again and she got super excited about the gift I gave her; Rainbow Loom. We didn’t have time to make an advanced bracelet so I think I will make one with my kit that I got from my hostfamily and send it to her.

We ate good food and apple pie for dessert. This weekend wasn’t very good for my weight-loss-plan. But surprisingly enough I’ve actually lost a little since Friday morning. Weird!

On Sunday we had breakfast and then went out in the cold for a walk along the lake they have close to their house. It was windy so we didn’t go that far, but it was nice. We saw swans and heard cranes.

Right before grandma drove me to the train station in Västerås we had lunch and dessert again.  Panacotta topped with their own raspberries.

I had more things on the way back to Gothenburg. From my cousins, uncle and wife I got thick and fluffy towels that I look forward to use! From grandma and grandpa I got two jars of their homemade strawberry/rhubarb and plum jam. I am trying not to eat as much bread anymore, but it will be worth it with these two things to have on it. I also got a picture painted by Ella. In arts class she drew an American flag just for me. She is so incredibly sweet!

I don’t have very much to do this week so I will try to solve some problems in structural engineering and then play Guild Wars 2. And this upcoming weekend we are gonna have the fancy dinner party with VIRUS. I really look forward to that!

Pub crawl @ Chalmers

This was a very nice day actually, even if the whole afternoon was spent with structural engineering (the class I’m taking again). I actually solved one problem all by myself. It took one hour though and I had the answer key. But it’s a good start!

In the evening I went to one hour of yoga with mom and Sofia. It was in English so I recognized the names of the positions. It was a very good class to. I will try to go to this one regularly. We did headstands and I did surprisingly well. My mom was more than surprised, “where did you learn to do that?!”. I think I did a lot of headstands and handstands when I was younger. Guess some things are hard to forget how to do.

Right after yoga I and Sofia went to Chalmers, it was the pub crawl tonight (we have that four times a year, a night when all the 19 pubs on campus are open at the same time for everyone tovisit). We only went there to eat a burger outside of the Civil Engineer department’s house where our former committee barbecued them. So good! And cheap, since we used to do that ourselves, we get a huge discount. Very nice to talk to the new guys in VIRUS and I look forward to the “fancy”  dinner party next weekend with them.

We didn’t feel that we were done with the pub crawl so we went to one of the pubs and had a drink each. We ran into two friends and sat there for maybe an hour. I didn’t drink any alcohol though. Mom said that wasn’t a good idea with an open wound in my mouth, so I ordered a hot cocoa. Worked perfectly fine that too!

Now I just took a warm shower and I have packed for this weekend’s trip up to grandma and grandpa on dad’s side. It will be nice to see them again. They live so far away so I don’t see them very often.

I should probably get to bed, I have a lecture at 8am.

One wisdom tooth pulled

The day I have feared for so long is finally over. This morning I finally got the right bottom wisdom tooth pulled out. I have been having troubles with it for so many years and last year I even had two infections in it. I have wanted to pull it out for so long, they aren’t supposed to hurt for more than six years. But I was stillreally scared when I went to the dentist this morning. I know I am 23, but I really wanted my mom there. It was good that I had. I was so scared that I was shaking and it felt like my heart was gonna jump out of my chest.

I know many people pull those teeth out, but I’ve always been super afraid of getting shots in the mouth, and I’ve seen people being swollen with big bruises for several days after.

I had minor surgery in 2012 when I removed the uvula (that thing that hangs in the back of the mouth). I told the doctor that I was afraid of the shot so he gave me a anesthetic spray before the shot and I didnt’t feel a thing.

But today I didn’t get that spray even if I asked for it and when he dentist told me that it would be fine I almost started to cry. BUT, I actually didn’t feel any of the four shots I got. Weird, everyone told me that they hurt really bad! It was the same when I pierced the top of my ear when I was younger, I didn’t feel anything.

I was so relieved, but I was still afraid that I was gonna feel something when they pulled the tooth out. I know, silly me, I got four shots!

I did feel something, but that was pressure and maybe a little scraping. But no pain. I had my eyes closed the whole time anyway though, I didn’t wanna see what horrible tools she was using. Before I knew it, she told me the tooth was out and that she was gonna stich it up. She put a compressor in my cheek to stop the bleeding and asked me when I wanted to come back to pull the left bottom one.

She told me in the beginning that they don’t do several at a time. But said that she could as well have done the other because the first one came out so easily. I really wanted to do both so I wouldn’t have to go through all this again. But I didn’t have a say in the matter. So in four weeks I am going back and will go through this hell again. I really hope it will go as smoothly as this time.

I wasn’t in any pain at all until noon when it started to hurt a lot. I took the painkillers I got and less than half an hour later the pain was gone. But so was I. Codeine is some pretty heavy stuff so I fell asleep for a few hours.

I have eaten a lot of ice cream today, it dulls the pain and it feels good to eat for some weird reason. I hope it doesn’t hurt tomorrow. I need to work on my thesis the whole day.

I think I will take another of those pills now so I will sleep the whole night through.

Back in school

It was almost two years ago I was at a lecture. Time flies! I didn’t recognize much of what the teacher said but I think I will get into it after a while. I remember being this confused the first week of all my classes I’ve had so far.

After two hours I went home to mom so I wouldn’t have had to go all the way to my apartment just to go back a little later to the gym. 30 minutes of spinning and 30 minutes of CXWORX. I met two friends there who were also going to spinning and one of them were also going to the second class. Nice with some company!

When I came home it was time for some laundry. A machine used to be done after like 50 minutes, but now they take more than an hour and that doesn’t give me enough time to finish it all in three hours. I hope we are allowed to use the dryer.

I did some shopping, bought soup and yoghurt for the next few days. Tomorrow at 8am the teeth are being pulled! Now, I am extremely tired for some reason. So I will actually go to bed now.Goodnight!

Beach Festival in Nordstan

I haven’t done particuarly much today. I changed my laundry booking to tomorrow instead of today and went to Nordstan with Dzejna where we watched the two Challenger finals in beach volleyball. Both the women’s and men’s games were ridiculously intense. I wish I were that good! Two very entertaining games and I had a very nice time with Dzejna too. Talked a lot about everything and nothing.

It’s pretty cool that they put so much sand in Nordstan, the big shopping mall in downtown Gothenburg. It’s been going on this whole week to raise money to cancer research.

Tomorrow I have to get up at 7am to be in school at 8. My first class in so long! I hope I don’t fall asleep. I am glad it’s not a four hour lecture, but only two. After that I have a tough hour at the gym and then laundry right after. I might as well do as much as I can before Tuesday when I will probably be on the couch all day watching TV series and starving myself because of the pain in my mouth.

Cousins in Hjo

Home again in my apartment after a long but very nice day. I finally met my cousins and grandparents on mom’s side again. Before we came to Hjo we picked up Malin at her gymnastic practice and she didn’t recognize me from far away, but when I came closer she gave me a really big hug!

When we came to my uncle’s new house I got more big hugs. At 3pm grandma and grandpa came and we started our afternoon with mudpie. Weird to have desert before the meal, but I’ve had opposite-themed parties at Chalmers so it’s nothing I’ve never done before.

Before dinner I played Assholes with my brother, Malin and Lovisa. We only had time for two rounds before dinner, pulled pork. It was really good! I will try that one day, for sure!

After dinner we just sat and talked. Malin got impatient and wanted to open my very late Christmas gifts for them. I got one too, a thermometer to have outside my window. I didn’t even knew I needed one but my mom apparently did and told my uncle. She have noticed that I always complain that it looks warmer than it is and always choose the wrong clothes. My sweet mom who knows me better than I do sometimes!

My cousins loved their gifts. They each got a Hollister t-shirt and a key chain with their initial from Hollywood and a used card deck from Las Vegas. I am glad they liked it :).

I’ve decided with my cousins to try to redo this whole thing with them visiting me on their own for a weekend in Gothenburg. I think Malin will start on the weekend of March 29th, Lovisa April 26th and then we’ll see about Linnea. I look forward to those weekends!

Tomorrow is my last day before the seriousness begins. My classes start on Monday. On Tuesday I will pull one or two wisdom teeth. On Wednesday I will start with my thesis and on Friday I will take the train up to my grandparents and cousins on dad’s side for a weekend with them.

I hope this week goes fast and that I won’t have any complications with the teeth pulling!

San Diego in my kitchen

Today was a very boring Friday. I had to be at home for DHL didn’t give me a specific time when they were gonna give me my last painting. It was bad weather, so it didn’t matter that much, but to know that I couldn’t leave my apartment until they came wasn’t very fun. They came at 2pm so I had only been awake for three hours, it could have been worse.

The canvas of the San Diego downtown skyline is big, and not as sharp as the Hawaii ones, but it looks good above my kitchen table. It feels really good to have both Hawaii and San Diego close even if it is so far away right…

I actually played some Guild Wars 2 today for the first time in ages. I played for at least a couple of hours and gained 2 levels. I think I ended up on 50 or 51, didn’t pay that much attention, have a long way to go until 80…

No plans whatsoever in the evening which was a bit of a disappointment. But it turned out pretty okay when I decided to buy ice cream and candy and watch Arrow this whole evening. I do feel pretty bad about eating all that. It’s not going so well with my weight loss plan… But on the other hand, I am not gaining anything either. I have been healthy this whole week, so I guess one day a week is okay to be a sweet tooth.

Tomorrow I will get up early to drive Chad to the airport. That lucky bastard is going to Florida for a week. Not. Jealous. At. All!! After that I am going with mom and Felix to my cousins and grandparents for a reunion after my year away! I can’t wait to see them all again :).

Thursday

I got woken up today at noon because ComHem called me at noon and offered a digital box with all their TV channels for free for three months. I didn’t say no to that. Even if I don’t watch TV, a lot of extra channels could be fun.

After that my day was very lazy again. And I am definitely not complaining, I like it! I watched some episodes of Arrow and booked a full body massage on April 6th. 200kr for one hour is pretty awesome!

Yesterday I got a mail from Försäkringskassan telling me that I will get money to help me pay rent, 600kr/month, that’s not too bad! I will get it at the end of the month and every month until I’m leaving.

Tonight was my second au pair information meeting and I told the future au pairs about my year and it went really well! I was nervous before, but it was no biggie at all when I was done. Two interviews, one guy actually, and I was home by 9pm.

I’ve paied the next three months rent and I’ve finished the interview forms and now I think I will take place in the couch and watch some more Arrows. Tomorrow I have to be home the whole day. My last painting, the one of San Diego skyline, is being delivered between 8am and 5pm… Stupid DHL who can’t give me a more specific time! I hope they get here early so I can go out for a walk in the hopefully beautiful weather.

Spring

This is why I love Sweden, the first warming sun of the year. It will be better though, when it starts to get green! I seriously can’t wait!

I had a very lazy day today. I woke up at noon, watched an episode of Arrow and then went outside for a walk. I walked for an hour through the neighborhood I grew up in and at the same time as it looked exactly the same, it was completely different. New buildings, all the old stores were switched. Except for Lejonet & Björnen, the ice cream cafe. I am so going there when it’s a little bit warmer!

I was actually sweating and it felt so good being out in the sun. It must have been over 10C (50F)! My tan is getting paler every week and I really don’t like that…

When I came home again I decided to stay outside for a bit more, so I sat down by the water and read for half an hour. But it got cold so I headed inside, took a nice and warm shower and watched a couple of more episodes of Arrow.

I cooked dinner for the second time since I moved in, spaghetti with meatsauce and bacon. It was really really good! I am glad my cooking skills are still there.

Tomorrow night is my second Cultural Care information meeting and this time I will give my presentation and tell the future au pairs about my year and then as usual do some interviews. It will be fun!
