Eight weeks flew past and I can’t believe that what we had counted down so many months for, was gone before we knew it. She was here for a long time though and got to experience our new lives here with us.
And so has time since mom actually was here. I have been so bad at updating my blog and I have so many things I wish to share. But this last post from mom’s visit last winter is making everything after queuing up (my blog needs to be chronological). In any case, it’s been such a long time ago since mom was here now. We were counting down for so long, then she was finally here, and before we knew it, she was back home where she found out she was going to be a grandma. And now, she actually is one. I can proudly call myself an aunt since two months. And time is just flying. The older I get, the quicker it seems to go. Scary! More on this shortly! But first, let me tell you of mom’s last day in Australia for this time, which was seven months ago, almost to the day. Embarassing.
Mom’s flight wasn’t until later in the evening so we decided to go to her new favorite place for like the third time (or was it fourth?): Coombabah Lake Conservation Park. But first, we had a very typical Aussie brekkie on the patio: vegemite and fairy toast. Vegemite was not too exciting, fairy toast was better.
None of my visits to Coombabah so far have been koala-less. And neither was this, as we managed to spot 2, one which was fairly active. We also saw a wallaby which aren’t as common as the kangaroos.
Honestly, I don’t understand how the koalas manage to sleep in all these weird positions, how can it be comfortable? Well, they are designed for it with extra thick fur and cartilage for their 20h/day of sleep.

When Mikael was back from work, we jumped in the car and drove up to the airport where we dropped mom off for her 28-hour flight back home.
After those 28 hours, she was greeted at the airport by Felix and Matilda with a sign that read: “Welcome home, grandma” and a picture of an ultrasound. My brother’s fiancé at that time was already 18 weeks pregnant and they waited on telling her since it would be more fun to do it in person. She was shocked! And couldn’t really take it in after travelling for so long. I was beyond happy when my brother told me this. My baby brother was going to be a father. Not surprised as they have been talking about babies for years, but still kinda was anyway.
And now, this little guy, Louie, is 8 weeks old already and is the most adorable little boy ever. And what’s funny about this situation, well, there are several things, first off: out of 5 cousins, three have had boys in our family within like four months. My closest friend in Australia’s sister got her first son the day before Louie was born, and my cousin got her boy the day after Louie was born. Insane. So many babies everywhere! I hope I get to meet him soon ❤️
Anyway, I am intending to be a bit more active now. I have drafted a lot of pretty cool posts already. But the blog obviously have to be chronologically organised, which means I haven’t been able to post about the epic event in Adelaide, about that time I dressed up as David Åhman or when my friend from home visited and we had the most amazing time together for a few weeks. More to come.
