Purling Brook Falls

I moved to Australia because of the beaches, not gonna lie. But the longer I live here, the more I’ve come to love the hinterlands, the Great Dividing Range, where we’ve so far only discovered a tiny part of all the great trails that exists. Out of the countless national parks, we’ve only visited TWO! We need to change that. But Springbrook is really incredible!

Purling Brook Falls is part of Springbrook National Park and it has been on my list of places to go to for a long time. It was a really enjoyable trail of 5km or so. I do believe our smart watches said 6km, but that doesn’t really matter. It was a lagom hike. Going clockwise, we first saw the waterfall from straight above. We then walked down into the canyon to get a good view of the waterfall from down under, then 100m up on the other side to get a third view of the waterfall.

At the entrance to the trail, was this sign with aboriginal names and their meanings. It cleared a few things up regarding names of places around here.

First view of the waterfall.

This hike was all about the waterfall from all different angles. It was so beautiful. Up top we got really nice views over the hinterlands and all the way out to the ocean as well.

First and a half view of the waterfall.

Down at the bottom, we were met by a 100m tall waterfall and a visible rainbow whenever the sun was out (it was a rather overcast day).

Second view of the waterfall.
Third view of the waterfall.
