I spent the morning down at the beach having a coffee with a friend. We sat there for such a long time, enjoying the warm sun, watching the ocean and beach volleyball players, whales, and most importantly: dolphins. They are not very common here, whales are 100% more common. So every time I see dolphins, it is a little bit special. These guys were first playing around on the spot and it was hard to see exactly what it was. Sharks? Rays? Definitely not whales that close to shore and so small. When they tired of playing around, the slowly, slowly started swimming north and it was very clear that it was a pod of like five dolphins.
They were in sight for a long time, but not long enough for mom to get down to the beach and see them. Very unfortunate.
It was so warm, and we both decided that today might be the day we go in the ocean!
So we went back home, changed into our swimmers, and got on the bus down to Cooly to walk around there for a bit, as mom hadn’t yet seen South Gold Coast, before going in the water. When we got off the bus, the wind was so intense we almost immediately had to put on our hoodies. Ocean another day. It was still pretty though.

We walked along the esplanade, took a quick couple of steps over the border to NSW, around Rainbow Bay and down to Snapper Rocks and up to Point Danger Lookout where we stayed for a long time. Because why would we leave when there were tons of whales everywhere? Even if it was freezing cold after a while and we were so cold and stiff we had trouble walking back?
