GC Botanical Gardens in Benowa was the perfect place to regain some energy after a period of intense work for both of us. Lots of beautiful nature and wildlife.
Highlight of the day: Our very first snake in Australia since moving here eight months ago!
The Gold Coast Botanical Gardens has been on our list over things we want to see and do in Australia since the beginning. That list has almost 100 things on it now and with extremely limited time and money, we haven’t really checked many of the things on that list yet.
Today was the first day we both had off work for over a month and we decided we wanted to do something low key. And what better way than to slowly walk around a lake while letting Mikael get back into videography again?
First thing we noticed were the countless of freshwater turtles in the lake. We were not the only ones fascinated by them, this dog also tried to make new friends.
The park was full of wildlife, the turtles, ducks and so many different bird species, ducklings, butterflies, water dragons, and even a snake! There was an old lady who noticed Mikael filming and asked if we got the python on tape. No, we hadn’t seen it, even if we literally had been on the small island in the lake just a few minutes before she told us. We walked back and must have turned around just before we could see it. Because it was clearly visible on the path, probably had just ate as it was pretty round.
