Rainbow Bay + Snapper Rocks

Coolangatta is such a pretty place. But so far away from Central Gold Coast. Isn’t it crazy that the Gold Coast reaches a massive 70km along South East Queensland’s coast? Beaches as far as the eye can see ❤️

A beautiful spring day in November, we took the car down to the south side of Gold Coast. I have heard that the changes of seasons here usually generate really bad weather, which I actually guess has been true this November. We had a full week in the beginning of MIL’s stay where there were thunderstorms rolling every single day. Pouring rain. It’s important to seize the days when the sun is out. Unfortunately, this time of year, the whales were not there to greet us, which they were every day when we lived there in July.

Another big difference since the winter, is that the Dragons are much more out and about. They are everywhere! And I love it. They are out sunning on the rocks, quietly observing us walking past. Since the weather got warmer, we have a couple on the other side of the canal that we see when the sun is out. I have not familiarised myself too much with local wildlife yet, but these ones might be Water Dragons? Or do you think Bearded Dragons? Either way; big and cool lizards!

Lastly, we traveled across timezones this day. Since the border to New South Wales is in Cooly, there is a place, during summer, where you can have one foot an hour a part. Just imagine having your neighbor across the street living one hour in the future or past? Just imagine trying to decide a time to meet up for a fika. Crazy!

As usual, tons of people surfing down in Rainbow Bay. South GC is a world surfing reserve and there are always people out there. One day I will join them.

Last supermoon of the year was observed from the beach back home at Kurrawa.
